About Me

This trip is an abbreviated version of a much larger trip that I had previously planned and, unfortunately, had to abandon.

After graduating from college I lived and worked for three years in the Marshall Islands. I loved the experience and decided to use my savings to embark upon a one-year around-the-world backpacking trip. Sadly, upon returning to the United States, life required that I actually do things. I saw friends, family, and they made me realize that, after being on the road for three years, I was desiring a slightly more "normal" lifestyle than another international romp.

Reluctantly, I spent my savings in a much less exciting manner and moved to Seattle where I found a job working for a non-profit organization and settled into a quaint little mundane life. Since funding for my job was finite, I applied to graduate school and will be attending this autumn, rather fortuitously timed because my job ends in June.

What to do between June and September? Easy. This.

I land in Cairo on June 24th and depart from Prague on September 6th. Everything in between is up to my whims. My tentative itinerary is Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, Austria, and the Czech Republic. Exactly where I go and how much time I spend there will be decided on the road.

And yes, this trip is the reason I applied to have my passport renewed. If you are not up-to-date on your internet viral news, you can learn about the interesting interaction I had with the US Department of State here, here, here, here, and, really, everywhere else.
